GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida President Charles E. Young Wednesday named Ed Poppell as permanent vice president for administrative affairs, the university’s chief fiscal and business officer. The appointment is effective June 1.

Shannon professor and chairman of the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Michigan, has been selected as the new dean of the University of Florida College of Engineering, following a national search. An alumnus of the University of Florida, he will assume his new duties July 1.
